Wintergreen! What a mystical and brutal course I've been waiting all year for! I toed the line with a few goals in mind: sub 4:10 time, Top 20 Age Group, Top 1,000 Overall, fail two or less obstacles, pass Rope Climb or Rig, beat at least one of three specific age group competitors. The course actually started out flat, which quite frankly was poor course planning. The three hurdles caused a massive backup. I had to receive assistance over the first two because people were so crowded I couldn’t get a running start to them. By the third one, people thinned out and I got over myself. Into the woods for some technical trail running and some down hills, almost reminding me of Tuxedo running. I opened it up and passed a bunch of people. We came down to the OUT and an Over Wall before heading up the first major climb of the day.
