Surely it had been 10 or 15 minutes since I entered this pit of waist deep freezing water on a 40 degree day, already exhausted and wet from head to toe. I had one last log to scale and I was losing energy fast. My entire body was numb. An MIT Tough Team member was in the pit beside me, we had been rotating turns at the log and offering encouragement. On unknown number attempt I had finally managed to jump just an inch higher and inch my foot up the log enough to hook my leg. The obstacle judges cheered with me, wrapped a foil blanket around me and ushered me to the fire they had going.
