Well the OCR season is in full swing and most of my posts lately have been race reviews, so here are some updates regarding my status, training and schedule.
Injury report is fairly extensive. I’ve been battling lingering issues in my left hand from the knuckle fracture back in April. My right ankle also took a beating during a soccer game like two months ago and I had been bracing it for the last couple of races. And then the week after BattleFrog I had some issues with my sciatic joint which went crazy after I was taken out during a soccer game.
I am feeling fairly confident at being able to tackle the PA Super in a few days. I will not be pushing for time, but will be practicing focus and trying to be mentally competitive. I have scratched the PA Sprint on Sunday from my schedule in hopes that I am able to use the extra day to rebuild energy and strength for the HH12HR that is on my schedule for the following Saturday (which is also my Birthday).
Obviously I am going into that with a huge disadvantage. However, my reasons for signing up were to push myself past my limits and way out of my comfort zone. Those goals can still be accomplished. So baring further injury, I will show up at the time and place, that is still to be announced, with all the gear required to last the full 12hrs.
Training wise I am switching things up and have decided to work with a coach that does OCR. I feel the competitive edge I am looking for is only going to come from someone who is currently competing. He also has experience in body transformations and will be able to guide me through losing the last 20-30 pounds. I begin his program next Monday after the PA race. It will be a pretty strict and regulated program for nutrition and training. I am really excited to see the results it brings and am ready to pour all of my energy into becoming a competitive OCR athlete.
